Job Description
This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day port opertations for ship discharging, container operations for bananas, diversified products and general cargoes; both company proprietary and commercial. Must be ready for each weekly ship movement to include M&R, southbound commerical, and northbound banana volume. Also responsible for supervising maintenance and repair of Chiquita container/chassis/gen-set equiment according to Chiquita's M&R programs. This position is to also constantly reinforce and update the training of the workforce.
 
Duties:
-Oversee yard and ship operations during vessel port call.
-Manage port warehouse, including the responsibility for transfer of fruit from company owned equipment into customer's equipment
-Supervise Chiquita Freeport personnel as well as dispatch, cargo and transfer operations.
-Supervise the maintenance of the Chiquita container/chassis/gen-set related equipment performed by mechanics per the Company's Standard Operating Procedures. Perform weekly equipment audits on same to ensure compliances are met.
-Coordinate shop work and determine priorities for mechanics, keeping the preventative maintenance program as the main goal.
-Consult and advise carriers on over-the-road repairs
-Work with customers, trucking companies, rail, CSR's, Stevedore to ensure all customer needs are met and exceeded.
-Use excellent organizational, multitasking, customer relations and written/spoken communication skills to drive business results.
 
Experience required:
3 years of port/yard operations experience
3 years of maintenance and repair experience
3 years experience in a supervisory position
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
 
Education:
Associates degree
 
Additional Job Requirements:
Experience in an Intermodal fleet environment preferred
ASE Certification plus
Demonstrated experience in Developing people
Possible Travel
Experience with JDEdwards a plus
English required, Spanish a plus
