Job Description
Background to Job:
 
The position of Senior Auditor is the most senior staff position in the department, supervising Staff and Associate Auditors. The mission of GIA is to provide Schering-Plough Corporation with value added audit services for its operations in over 100 countries world-wide. GIA has centers of excellence located in both the United States (Berkeley Heights, NJ) and the Netherlands (Oss).
 
This position reports to an Audit Director and has functional responsibility for working with and assisting Associate Auditors, Staff Auditors, Associate Audit Managers and Audit Managers on overall coordination of the audit process on all audits as assigned.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Documenting audit findings, maintaining accurate workpapers and researching findings to conclusive management response in conjunction with the lead auditor and other audit staff.
*Assisting in the drafting audit findings, observations and recommendations
*Participating in management and department briefings regarding audit findings and observations
*When functioning as the In-Charge Audit Lead, provide liaison between the Audit Team and Audit Management
*Presenting the Audit objectives during the opening meeting with clients
*Presenting the draft audit findings at the closing meeting with clients
*Frequently functioning as the Lead or In-Charge Auditor on many audit assignments.
*Overall management of the audit work assignment and audit resources
*Supervising, coaching and developing entry level Associate Auditors, as well as Staff Auditors
*Practicing project management skills
*Displaying good time management
*Utilizing effective listening skills
*Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with the auditee.
*Assist in preparing audit programs, under direction of Audit management.
*Meets with and interviews the necessary audit clients.
*Participates in meetings with clients and amongst audit staff and management.
*Makes presentation at opening meeting with clients.
*Frequently functions as the Lead or In-charge auditor on audit assignments.
*Has overall responsibility for the audit fieldwork and supervision of audit work team.
*Presents draft audit findings to clients at closing meeting.
*Assist with review and testing of documents, and preparation of work papers.
*Perform field test work and audit procedures as necessary.
*Conducts financial audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), to determine compliance with policies & procedures and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
*Prepares and documents draft audit findings and recommendations, supported by accurate workpapers for review by Audit management.
*Assists in the preparation of objective, factual draft complete audit reports for audit management review and discussion.
*Assist in developing appropriate recommendations for corrective action and in soliciting adequate and timely management response to the same.
*Seeks out, documents and presents draft opportunities for best practices.
