Job DescriptionProvides support for the company's LAN and PC hardware and software environments. Monitors LAN and network operations to ensure proper operation, and intervenes to correct issues when necessary. Assists associates in establishing PC hardware and software configurations, resolving technical problems and training associates in the use of the hardware and software. Acts as a limited project resource to the development organization providing limited technical and business analysis/recommendations. May be required to travel in order to provide technical assistance.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Assists in monitoring the integrity and operation of the company's Local Area Networks (performance, availability and data protection) by ensuring a high degree of quality and control of the LAN environment.
-Ensures the company's PC's and LAN's are maintained at the appropriate operating system levels with the correct maintenance. Implements upgrades as necessary using established procedures.
-Ensures system integrity by monitoring PC and LAN security functions and access controls. Takes immediate action whenever any risks are identified which would compromise the company?s assets.
-Provides direct, daily on-going support to all associates for simple and moderately complex PC related hardware and software issues within the company's facilities. Provides limited onsite technical support to remote locations as requested.
-Provides basic consulting support by making recommendations to the development staff and associates on PC and PC-related hardware, software, training and by keeping abreast of the latest technologies. Assists where required in PC/LAN related development activities in areas such as intranet/web technologies.
-Provides IT related procurement assistance and guidance in areas such as wireless phones, PC's and associated peripherals. Ensure any related records and inventory are accurately maintained.
-Provides related input into Chiquita corporate standards related to these products.
Skilled Required:
Experience in the following required:
-MS Office suite
-Windows OS XP, Vista, Linux
-Citrix, thin clients
-PC and Server Hardware knowledge
-AS400 Client Access
-Customer / service oriented
-A strong team player
-Possess knowledge and experience of Telecom (Wireless, VPN, VLANs, BlackBerry, Cellphones,etc)
-Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
-English requited
-Spanish would be a plus
Education:
Bachelor in Systems Engineering or equivalent experience in the LAN and PC areas. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
