Job Description
The General Manager, North America Salads will provide leadership to the Chiquita Brand NA business organization by leading the Salad business segment while also directing customer and marketing activities. Specific responsibilities include:
-help develop the vision and strategic plan for the Salad category, and drive organization alignment behind the plan
-managing the retail Salad P&L
-leading/managing segment business strategies focused on sustainable, profitable long-term growth
-ensure differentiation of the Fresh Express brand within the category by focusing on differentiation through brand building and consumer- driven initiatives
-leading segment marketing, pricing, and promotional activities in conjunction with the retail sales force
-working with sales leadership to determine key customer marketing priorities across all retail business segments, and linking with key customer sales leaders for development and implementation of profitable customer marketing programs.
-develop the organization, both the direction team and the broader, multi-functional organization
 
This role will also be responsible for the leadership of various key new product development initiatives, in terms of managing cross-functional teams to achieve timely revenue and margin results. In addition to team leadership, the GM is a key contributor to the overall marketing testing and launch plan for new product projects.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Strategy ? Develop the vision and objectives, goals, strategies, and measures for the salad segment. Provide clear direction on strategic goals (volume, price, EBIT) for the salad segment & ensure timely, coordinated execution against those goals with all multifunctional team members.
2.Effectively manage the P&L from the planning phase through execution- including all the components that contribute to our ?risk? (cost risks, D&D, volume risk etc...).
3.Create competitive advantage through brand building and differentiation. Develop and implement a clear, compelling brand positioning that meets/ exceeds consumer expectations on attributes that are highly important and not fully met.
4.Drive a sustainable shift in marketing activities from customer-focused to consumer- focused. This may include, but isn?t limited to: MDF, promotions and pricing, EDLP.
5.Differentiation: Must play a key role in the development and go-to-market strategy for new products or product ?re-freshes?. This will include, but isn?t limited to: product development, sourcing, positioning, branding, naming, packaging, pricing, advertising and promotion strategies?leading to the development and execution of marketing plans for new product test markets and launch.
6.Organization: Define the required resources needed, coach, train, and align the organization; lead perform to grow process for the direct team
 
Experience:
This position requires 6-8 years of successful P&L management, at least 2-4 years in product development/ brand management with a consumer-driven CPG brand, preferably in the food industry. Experience in high-velocity perishable goods strongly preferred.

BA or BS required
