Job Description
Edmunds' infrastructure operations team is looking for an innovative and forward-thinking team player who will contribute and provide ongoing support to the company's pre-release infrastructure re-design initiatives. The ideal candidate must be collaborative, creative, innovative, detail-oriented and eager to work with the latest technologies with a large focus on automation. Primary responsibilities include automation of operating system installations, configuration, scripting and integration of infrastructure systems to facilitate end-to-end automation.

Responsibilities:

Provide 24/7 support of automation systems that support a high-traffic web and application based environment.

Programming and automation of systems-based provisioning and pre/post configuration to support large infrastructure initiatives.

Provide necessary support to operations teams for systems troubleshooting, incident resolution and root cause analysis.

Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system and network administration tasks.

Continually evaluate the operations environment and assist in the optimization and delivery of infrastructure improvements.

Provide ongoing support for security related tasks such as compliance and vulnerability assessment/testing.

Document processes, procedures, infrastructure configuration and maintain operational runbooks.

Consistently meet or exceed the SLA's set for provided services

Qualifications:

4+ years Red Hat 4/5 Linux systems administration and integration experience in a large-scale and high availability web environment.

3+ years development/scripting experience with Shell, Bash or equivalent administrative scripting

Previous experience programming in an administrative language such as PERL, Python or Java, and familiarity with web services such as SOAP/REST to facilitate automation.

Positive team player approach and highly effective collaboration skills are critical

Working knowledge of XSLT and Xpath technologies.

Strong working knowledge of supporting and implementing Red Hat administration services such as DNS and LDAP.

Familiarity with project change management methodologies and project tracking tools including waterfall and Agile

Excellent time and resource management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent interpersonal as well as oral/written communication skills.

Prior experience with data center configuration and server automation tools preferred (ex. BladeLogic, Opsware, Cfengine, Puppet)
