Job Description
Edmunds.com is seeking a Senior Economist to conduct economic research on automotive related data and apply economic/behavioral/gaming theories to analyze consumer behavior and industry trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor government policies and macroeconomic data in the automotive industry and interpret their impact on the industry in areas such as vehicle production, sales, pricing and incentives.
  • Utilize both public and proprietary information to develop new models and products; add an economic/behavioral/game theory perspective to our analyses.
  • Partner with the senior management team and the PR department to develop strategies to expand our analysis and coverage of the automotive industry.
  • Develop white papers and research reports on issues that may have important impact on consumers or the industry.
  • Serve as an industry expert in business development meetings, industry events and media interviews; participate in media interviews as one of the company's spokespeople.

    Requirements:

  • Ph.D (Economics, Statistics or related quantitative field preferred)
  • 5-10 years of professional research and modeling experience
  • Successful track record providing business leaders with insight and direction supported by appropriate metrics and data.
  • Expertise in SAS or other econometric software and tools
  • Highly developed communication skills and leadership qualities for regular interfacing with executives, media, clients and other contacts
  • Experience and comfortable participating in broadcast media interviews
