Job Description
The Sr. Front-End Engineer is responsible for leading software design and development in creating standardized, performant and engaging user experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Object-Oriented Javascript, CSS and HTML for all Edmunds properties
  • Troubleshoot JavaScript/CSS/HTML on all Edmunds properties
  • Design and implement Javascript objects/modules that are reusable and performant
  • Develop functional prototypes in HTML/CSS/JavaScript to demonstrate creative concepts
  • Introduce innovative processes and techniques to boost front-end performance, functionality and maintenance
  • Write UNIT and Functional test cases using YUI Unit Test/JSUnit/Selenium
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and application engineers to refine and improve the complete user experience.
  • Partner with peers in application engineering to ensure that interactive techniques and technologies translate into world-class products and services.
  • Connect with the user interface development community to track latest trends and emerging technologies.

    Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Extensive experience building, documenting and refactoring Object-Oriented JavaScript, CSS and HTML
  • Advanced knowledge of AJAX processes and implementation
  • Comprehensive understanding of the web application lifecycle, MVC and other design patterns
  • Proficiency in unit and functional testing
  • Proficiency in software design using UML diagrams
  • Solid understanding of web/usability/accessibility standards
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Possesses a high degree of self-motivation with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with YUI Javascript Framework and Freemarker scripting language is a plus
  • Actionscript 3.0 knowledge is a plus
