JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will provide financial support to Schering-Plough?s business development efforts including valuation and strategic analysis of license, alliance and acquisition candidates. The position will have to understand the strategies behind each business development initiative and translate these into meaningful financial summaries. The position provides a disciplined and structured approach to developing P&L, cash flow and EPS forecasts for each opportunity. In addition, the position is responsible for evaluating the financial implications of each proposal and offering management with different alternatives on the myriad of financial issues that develop in these types of efforts. The position will have interaction with senior management within the company (licensing, sales and marketing, research, supply chain, finance, legal).

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate as integral member of evaluation teams to review and analyze opportunities
  • Support the evaluation team through consistent financial analysis to value proposed deal terms
  • Drive ownership of financial assumptions through the review and confirmation of key financial assumptions (Marketing, SPRI, Tax, Accounting, Manufacturing, etc.)
  • Participate in the review of prospective deals and assist in the development of recommendations for Senior
  • Management, including both deal terms and contract design
  • Provide guidance and support during the final contract review and implementation (as necessary)
  • Interact with Competitive Intelligence groups, e.g. Commercial Development, Sales Forecasting, Global
  • Market Research, and Business Analytics

    Qualifications

  • Undergraduate plus MBA degree preferred
  • Financial experience supporting commercial operations/research organization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of interacting with senior management
  • Excellent MS Excel/PowerPoint skills
  • Prior experiences in financial modeling and valuation
  • Ability to build financial models and analyses based on inputs from multiple stakeholders
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet aggressive timelines with good organizational and project management skills
  • Strong business judgment and analytical skills
